“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Paul Ennis and Melancholy Objects

This looks like it will be a terrific talk and I wish Paul the very best of the best concerning it. Also, my ego likes it. But as we know from Freud, the ego is simply the record of abandoned object cathexes...

The talk will be at Nottingham Trent's conference EcoTone 1: Object Space Entanglements and it's hosted by my new friend the great David Reid. HT Robert Jackson for the details. Later June 2012.

I'm going to talk about this a little bit in Melbourne on Tuesday so I hope I can share stuff with Paul on this. Part of this is posted here.
